During a time of isolation and the canceling of concerts and music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Bert Driver's Burlap Room in Smithville continues to bring joy through providing live music.
Bert Driver's Burlap Room is a unique venue providing family and pet-friendly fun. The Burlap Room is focused on promoting all things local, including artists and musicians, and Tio’s Taco Truck is often on the grounds to provide food.
Fire pits, a sandbox and children’s play area, locally-grown CBD products from Hemp Brothers, a Tesla charging station and the largest beer garden in Tennessee, are just a few of the property’s most popular features.
The Burlap Room Beer Garden and Dispensary is giving the region a sense of normalcy by continuing to host a variety of local artists performing all genres of music.
"You name it, we’ve got it," says owner, Bert Driver.
The beginning of summer is when festival season typically takes place. However, music lovers are suffering from the lack of festivals and live musical performances during the pandemic.
Bert Driver is leading the way in helping these music enthusiasts by holding concerts until the middle of October The 2nd Annual Middle of Somewhere Hemp Fest is the next event, taking place August 22.
"We’re continuing with the themes we've previously used," says Driver. "Everyone seemed to enjoy the events and concerts we held last year. We want everyone to enjoy themselves just as much or even more than before."
John Conlee, known as "Mr. Rose Colored Glasses", will take the main stage on Thursday, Sept. 24 beginning at 7 p.m. A few of Conlee's well-known songs include "Rose Colored Glasses", "Backside of Thirty" and "Lady Lay Down."
The Burlap Room's Beer Garden features craft beers from VonSeitz Theoretic Ales, Jig Head and Calf Killer Brewery, all of which are local. However, popular light beers are also available upon request.
