Pictured is the crash site in Viola on White Hall Road.

A head-on collision on a side road in Viola injured six on Saturday – with four of them airlifted.

The vehicles collided on White Hall Road, which runs between Viola Road and Mt. Zion Road, at approximately 5:30 p.m. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol state trooper Richard Teachout, the road is narrow.

“It’s a little one-lane road with no lines on it. It’s a country road that’s barely wide enough for one car, maybe a car and a half. They topped a hill at the time, for the most part, and hit head on. All five involved were injured,” said Teachout.

Vanessa Trapp, 39, of McMinnville, was traveling west on White Hall Road with three passengers, all believed to be her children: Cailin Trapp, 19, and two juveniles, ages 3 and 11. They were in a 2019 Chevy Malibu.

Samuel Patton, 35, of Rock Island, was traveling east on White Hall with one passenger: Ashlee Rybak, 35. The two were in a 2002 Jeep Cherokee.

Patton was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Rybak was transported by private vehicle to Saint Thomas River Park.

“I heard later that she was transported to Erlanger, but I have not confirmed that,” said Teachout.

Mrs. Trapp was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Her 19-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son were also airlifted. The 3-year-old was transported by private vehicle to Saint Thomas River Park and was later taken to Erlanger by Warren County EMS.

THP is still investigating the collision, with consideration given to speed being a factor in the severity of the crash.
