After 14 years in business, Mellow Mushroom Pizza is permanently closed at the location at 2955 Rutherford Blvd., in Murfreesboro.
Mellow Mushroom's closure was announced in the restaurant's Facebook page, which was later deactivated. The website is not active for the location and the phone number is no longer in service.
Attempts to reach the company’s corporate office to determine the reason for the closure have not been successful.

Several months ago, the Murfreesboro location shut down for two days while a brand-new pizza oven was installed.
Once COVID-19 brought about stringent guidelines regarding dining, the restaurant shut down for takeout service as well, supposedly for a temporary basis.
Within two weeks of the state's move to limit operation of restaurants and bars to takeout only, Mellow Mushroom closed permanently. There is no word on whether the pandemic had anything to do with the decision to close.
Other Tennessee locations include areas around Memphis, Chattanooga, Gatlinburg, Oak Ridge, Knoxville, Franklin and Nashville.
Mellow Mushroom, founded in Atlanta in 1974, is known for its 1960s-themed psychedelic decor and stone-baked pizzas.
