The Soggy Bottom Boys are a staple of Viola Valley Homecoming with The On the Road Again Show. This year’s event has been canceled.
The 2020 Viola Valley Homecoming has been canceled.
Viola Valley Homecoming Commission met Tuesday night and decided to cancel the annual event due to COVID-19. The two-day celebration was scheduled to take place Aug. 21-22.
“Out of concern for the health of the Viola community, volunteer workers, attendees, vendors, and the board members, the Viola Valley Homecoming Commission has made the decision to cancel and not reschedule the 2020 festival due to the uncertainty of the COVID19 pandemic,” said Viola Valley Homecoming Commission president Trent Prater.
The decision was not an easy one to make, said Prater.
“It was with great sadness and consideration after speaking with healthcare professionals and government agencies. Our hopes and prayers are that God continues to shine His light on our nation and that everyone who attends our annual event will remain healthy and safe so we may have an event in the 2021 season.”
Viola Valley Homecoming is known for its annual parade, live performances, tractor pull, delicious food and craft vendors. It has been a staple of the Viola community for more than 30 years.
